Baby Shower

A very quick Post this morning, as I have to drive to White Plains for my nieces Baby Shower. Yes, ladies I am going to be a Great Aunt. Oh wait I already am a "Great Aunt"...lol....These are the Pillow Boxes that I made for her, there are 80 in total. I used the Stampin Up Pillow Box Die Cut from Sizzix, Pretty in Pink Paper for the Pillow Box, and the new Sending Love Specialty Paper for the band along with ribbon, and the So Many Scallops stamp set also from Stampin Up. 9 steps in all...Thank Goodness for my girlfriends and the assembly line we created. What would have taken me a week to do by myself, only took a matter of hours. The red bands are the same color as the stroller that she wanted and I purchased for her, so the colors of the Designer Paper were perfect for this project. The bows on the side of the basket were made using the Bowdabra..OMG!!!! one of the best investments I ever made, especially since I used a Michael's coupon....I now want to make bows and put it on everything...

The card is also an old Stampin Up set that was colored with copics. Here is another view of the basket...

I also crocheted a baby blanket for her, which I made smaller than most instructions call for, I did this size because it is perfect for the car, carriage or stroller. The ones in the books are huge and to me not practical for a baby blanket. I used the shell stich for this design. I didn't want to use the traditional pink and white, and figured these colors would be perfect if the baby spit up, since it wouldn't show. It is a little longer than the picture shows, and also folded in half so is twice the width as what you see...

Thanks for looking... and Happy Sunday everyone.
Hugs
Debbie

Sweet Kitty

I know I've been AWOL again, but the last 2 weekends have been really crazy, and lately the weekends are the only time I get to make cards. First I had to rush Mom to the ER for a nose bleed that we couldn't stop..(she's on blood thinners she's 78, Dad is 86 and was scared to say the least, but Thank the Lord they live down stairs from me) anyway, she's OK now, and then last Friday, my son came home with a pain in his chest. Thought he pulled a muscle since he complained when he came home from a basketball game. Said it hurt by his peck and couldn't take a deep breath. So the next day he goes to practice (which is on Saturday..has to go into Manhattan since his school is in Manhattan) and comes home white as a ghost and again says it hurts when he takes a deep breath. Rush him to the Dr. listens to his chest doesn't hear anything, touches him by his peck he winces in pain and says the same thing as me. but wants me to check in with her on Monday. Well to make a long story short, turns out he has an phenomonia. Poor kid. So needless to say the 3 day weekend turned into a nightmare, but I am glad I was home to rush to around. He feels better now, but has to take it easy, still hurts when he breaths, but not as much.. and knows he's benched for a few more games and also cannot sing in Choir. He is the only 16 year old that I know that was upset about missing 3 days of school and begged to go back on Friday. Monday starts finals, and he also has his English Regents. The Moral of this story is that I will never utter the words "I want to have a nice relaxing weekend" ever again... I hope typing it doesn't count..lol

I started this card about 2 weeks ago, and finally finished it...Bout time right considering I had so much time on my hands...lol

Non Stamped Valentine Card

I had this cartridge in my had when it was on sale at Michaels right before the holidays and then decided I didn't need it. Then my girlfriend came over with it last night so that we could play with my "new" cricut machine the "Expression". Well, what a diifference from the old one to the new one. It's like the "Cadillac" edition. As soon as I saw the Valentine Silouette, this immediately came to mind, and I whipped it out in no time flat. I cut it at 3 1/2" three times and used dimentionals to assemble it. I then used the Martha Stewart fench punch and cut that out twice again using dimentionals. For the embossing, I used the Stampin Up Sizzix embossing folder Elegant Bouquet, and for the hearts, I used the Stampin Up Heart Punch and then embossed them with the Swiss Dots folder.

Here is the side view to show the dimentions.

Needless to say, I immediately went on line and ordered my own cartridge, and I'm glad I waited because it was cheaper on line from "Oh My Crafts" especially after you apply the 20% coupon code. If you decide to check it out the coupon code is NEWYEAR20.

Copic Challenge #19 - Fur

I tried the dirty rag technique for this challenge which I found on Marianne Walker's Blog entitled I Love Markers. She gives great tutorials on using Copics. You can try going here or if you go directly to the Copic Creations blog, all the tutorials are listed on the side... I have learned so much from this site.

I used my Heart Nestibilities to cut out the heart in the middle of the card and then placed the same nestie, in the larger scallop nestie to get the scallop that I placed around the cut out (I hope that made sense).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a nicer picture because it is so dark and grey outside, we are expecting more snow, and bitter cold so what better excuse than to stay in and play.

Thanks for looking
Debbie

Brayer Time

I reached for the brayer for this card, using Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay & Not Quite Navy for the sky and the water, stamped on the Island with the tree from Fire Cracker Designs. I then tore a post it note for the mountains placed it over the area I didn't want any green on covering my work and used Old Olive & Mellow Moss. To create the horizon, I again used a post it note and placed it along the line and sponged in Not Quite Navy. I then stamped the trees in the fore ground from Stampin Up's Lovely as a Tree set, sponged in Old Olive on all the tress to give it some depth, and just a little bit in the water creating the mirror image for the tree on the island. The hardest part for this card was placing the squares in a perfect line, for the backgrond of the image, not sure why that part took me so long, Other than that, it was a pretty easy card.
